The Walt Disney Company
Following the success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Walt Disney developed a new studio in Burbank for animation production. Central to this environment was the Airline Chair (1934), used by animators throughout the studio and in its screening room. Produced in limited quantities, it has since become a highly sought-after example of Art Moderne design.
In 2007, Walt Disney Signature commissioned Cory Grosser to reinterpret the chair as a contemporary armchair and ottoman. The design references the original while refining its proportions, structure, and detailing, resulting in a piece that feels lighter, more precise, and distinctly modern.
